Devices Covered:
Includes: bungee rides, go-karts, inflatable amusement devices, wave pools and water slides, and climbing walls.
Excludes: non-mechanized playground equipment (slides, trampolines) unless a fee is charged.
Inspection Program:
Permanent rides or attractions must be inspected every 6 months. Portable rides and attractions must be inspected every time they are set up.
Note: Effective July 24, 2019, inflatables, self-contained mobile playgrounds, climbing walls and other patron-propelled amusement rides are to be inspected annually instead of every 6 months. It also provides that an insurance company inspection is not required for inflatables. Investigative Authority:
Accidents are investigated by Arkansas Dept. of Labor. Reporting Criteria:
Mechanical, electrical, or structural defects directly affecting patron safety for which the ride is closed to patron use for more than 3 hours must be reported to the state within 24 hours.
